Today was a day for puttering. I didn't really stick to one specific thing all day -- I kind of flipped back and forth between the computer and my sketchbook. A new sketch is in the works...which might ultimately give rise to a whole new series of illustrations by yours truly... :phew:

Well, to explain, let me back up. The other day I was going through my mom's shelves o' romance novels -- Linda Howard and Johanna Lindsay, among others -- and I was looking for body references. Over time, as I'm looking over cover after cover, I'm drawing a series of common factors between each one -- and they are as follows... :movingon:

:bulletred: The guy looks like Fabio with different hair styles... :O_o:

:bulletorange: Said guy ALSO tends to be naked(ish) or at least from the hips up.

:bulletyellow: The chick usually seems to be lacking appropriate underwear for her time period... :unimpressed:

:bulletgreen: Said chick is also almost ALWAYS BAREFOOT... :dohtwo:

:bulletblue: Said chick is also usually wearing SOME form of eyeshadow which might have existed in the 1970's, but not ANYWHERE else in history... :ohmygod:

:bulletpurple: The couple in question are typically clinging desperately to each other, as if trying to have sex in the most INCONVENIENT of places...outdoors in the middle of nowhere is the most common... :disbelief:

:bulletpink: Said couple will also always have windswept hair -- EVEN INDOORS WITHOUT ANY NEARBY WINDOWS. :o

...In short...WHO THE HELL DESIGNED THIS SHIT...? :wtf:

More than that, WHY THE HELL HAS THIS INSPIRED ME TO DO SOMETHING SIMILAR...!!? :faint:

Yeah. I said it. :|

Basically, the theme for the new series is all about the couples -- and needless to say, the first couple I started working on was Mael and Cossette. Cossette was expressing some sadness over the fact that the most recent chapter in MxC showed her and Mael fighting (hotly, but still fighting) and she wanted something to make up for it. So, in the midst of a thunder and lightning storm when I SHOULD have been getting ready for bed, I started putting down the outline for what could, in a sense, be the MxC cover shot.

I'm taking this one slow, though -- it took me an afternoon just to position the heads properly... :bleh:

But, if all goes well, other couple covers might follow. We'll see how it pans out! :D

Aside from that, I spent some time in MS Paint just fiddling with certain affectis like text, airbrush, shading, and so on. This will be put to use in due time... :plotting:

Also! My sister had her first job interview today! She's looking at a position preparing food for senior citizens in assisted living, and the session went well according to her. Plus, my nephew got screened for pre-school, and despite being marked for speech, he's going in September!

I hope all goes well... :aww:

Until next! :painter:

 at the descriptions of Romance novel covers . . . all soooo true! Did you notice as well, that the wind blown hair is blown in two different directions, never the same way . . . always out of their faces? :XD:

:w00t: Can't wait to seeeeeee!

And congrats to your sister and nephew (and you, since it will get them out of the house for a little while ;P)
